Soil Care

A probiotic ritual for the urban soil microbiome.

The first ritual is one of feeding the soil. We transplant microbial activity to depleted pockets of earth in the city, to stimulate the life we all need to be surrounded by. Pushed by narratives from the microscopic world and equipped with shovels, trowels and compost, groups of people fracture solidified soil and feed it with mulch. Over time, this can turn the urban soil into a reservoir of growth and diversity, ready to absorb water and to become a measure of the health and diversity of the city environment. The participants should be invited from the local area through people who shape opinions: teachers, policy makers or community leaders.
